I have over 25 years of experience as a therapist, training as a Sports therapist and member of the Society of Sports Therapists since 2006, with further post-graduate anatomy qualification of PgCert in Applied anatomy. Sports therapy is for any age and level of fitness, athlete/non-athlete alike. Examination, assessment and treatment for any injury, post-surgery rehab, sprains, strains and acute/chronic aches and pains of any kind, including back pain. Making a clinic appointment in person or initial consultation via Zoom will outline a personal plan for your recovery that includes in-depth examination, assessment and treatment plan specifically for you. A hands-on approach is an important part of a clinic appointment to treat injuries and chronic pain, along with an exercise/movement plan. Guidance and support throughout your recovery is an integral part of the service and you’ll have the right advice at your fingertips for a speedy return to fitness

Yoga

A perfect practice on its own or complimentary to any sport. Yoga is an ancient science with many benefits. My 2-year Yoga teacher course (500hrs) with Swami Satvikananda, along with the latest research in anatomy is relevant to the balance of mind and body for our modern lifestyle. I believe in each individual receiving a relevant practice suitable for them, it’s much less about flexibility and more learning about the potential of your own body and the quality of movement, not to mention boosting our immune response for good health. Whether you’re a beginner or have practiced yoga for many years, the practice of asana (movement), pranayama (breathing) and meditation (mindfulness) combined together or on their own are very powerful antidotes to our adrenaline driven lives.

Breathing Techniques (Pranayama)

A practice to accompany a yoga session or on its own, pranayama (breathing techniques) is very important for learn in gaining command over our breath, for atheltes/non-athletes alike. Working on your breath enhances your breathing for any sport or day-to-day life and a better, more relaxed sleep. The type of breathing we do, and the way we do it has a close relationship with the nervous system to literally enhance our metabolism, changing our chemistry at tissue level, the overall health of our body, our immune system and quality of movement. There are many techniques depending on what you would like to achieve. For that reason, it’s important to get the right advice for you. Whether an individual or group session, you will be given the tools you need that suit you, without the danger of practicing without guidance that can have adverse effects.

Meditation (mindfulness)

Yoga Nidra is a practice from the Sivananda lineage of Hatha yoga, a yogic sleep, a guided meditation that can be between 10 and 30mins, at the end of a yoga class or practiced on its own. Essential in learning the discipline of relaxation, enhancing our immune system and offsetting the adrenaline driven part of our nervous system in favour of maximising our ability to recover and restore our healing potential. Very good for stress-related conditions such as anxiety, depression, insomnia, inability to relax and any inflammatory conditions such as chronic injuries, fibromyalgia and general aches and pains.
